Canadian Society of Marine Artists Nautical Artist
Picton, Ontario, 20 July 2012

Marc Magee elected to the Canadian Society of Marine Artists.

It is with the greatest pleasure that the Canadian Society of Marine Artists wishes to announce that Mr Marc Magee has been elected to Membership of the Society:

Mr Magee, a self-taught artist, started painting in his early teens. He began painting aircraft and trains using various mediums and finally decided that acrylic was his choice.

In recent years, Marc's interest turned towards paintings portraying varied seascapes with corvettes of the Royal Canadian Navy. His focus on naval scenes was been influenced by his grandfather, who worked for Canada Steamship Lines at the old wharf in Bagotville Quebec, where 'The Great White Fleet' operated daily cruises from there to Montreal.

Marc joined the Canadian military in the air traffic control field in his late teens and was able to visit most of this great country. He spent thirteen years on Vancouver Island and fell in love with the harbour tugs, thus reinforcing his choice to paint naval amd maritime scenes.

A sample of Mr Magee's work may be seen here.

The Canadian Society of Marine Artists promotes excellence in marine art, accepting that art is in the eye of the beholder and believing that the broad notion of "fine arts" - including both two and three dimensional works - and "excellence" should be used as guidelines. To maintain excellence, admission to the Society as a full member is by jury of the artists' peers.
