The Naval Marine Archive – The Canadian Collection is a not-for-profit charitable organization devoted to marine conservation, education and research. We specialize in maritime heritage and history - steam and sail, naval, merchant and yachting, mostly Canada/US and Europe, mostly 18, 19, 20th century. The collections range from about 30,000 books in the reference library, to paintings and engravings, other artwork and photographs, a very extensive collection of magazines, journals and periodicals, manuscripts, log books, charts, video, film and sound tapes.
Job Title: Assistant to Curator
Description: The assistant will aid the Executive Director in the day to day running of a maritime research library, including: accessioning and cataloguing of documents; public requests for research; expansion of indices, etc.
Requirements: Good personal skills with the public. Working knowledge of computerized databases (Excel, Access, SQL); in-depth or programming knowledge a plus. Desire to promote heritage and culture. Background in history or the arts an asset. The successful applicant must be returning to University next year.
