GAM On Yachting

GAM On Yachting

GAM On Yachting, founded in 1957 as a newsletter for Lake Ontario sailors, was published eight times per year in Toronto, ON, Canada. GAM was a boating magazine for boat owners, crews and sailors, boating associations, yacht clubs, marinas and other marine suppliers and agencies. A classified section for private boat sales was often included. Sadly it ceased publication in 2018, after founding editor Karin Larson passed away at the age of 95.

The January 1988 issue features a painting by Lorraine Coakley-Black.

Our collection is fairly complete from February 1960 to May 2017, sporadic otherwise; donations would be greatly appreciated. We do have some extra copies from this same time period for exchange.

Collection: Stormy Weather

Availability: as above

Indexing: by NMA, see our main catalogue entry.

A separate index including subject matter and boat names is also available, but is a "work in progess."

"Two ships on meeting would back their yards and exchange news by word of mouth. This was 'having a gam' or 'gamming.'"
