The Illustrated London News was the first illustrated weekly magazine in the history of publishing. The first issue appeared on Saturday 14 May 1842; published weekly until 1971, then monthly (or less often) until it ceased publication in 2003. Many issues during both World Wars, contain illustrations, maps, charts and photos that are useful to the historian. Our collection is extensive, but is far from being completely catalogued.
