A very special donation from Canada's North

Gregory Cayen

Gregory D. Cayen, FCA

The Naval Marine Archive is very pleased to announce a significant donation to the Archive.

Mr. Greg Cayen, KOStG, HMH, President and CEO of NCC Investment Group of Iqaluit, Nunavut, has very kindly made a gift to the Naval Marine Archive of $10,000.

Mr. Cayen is aware that a portion of the Collection relates to Nunavut. The Lord of Wrentnall, who is a member of the Board of the NMA and lives in the County, approached Mr. Cayen to see if he would participate in the current fundraising drive. Mr. Cayen did not hesitate. This is the first time in the NMA's history that a financial donation has been made from Nunavut, and reflects the growing national importance of the NMA.

Mr. Cayen is recognised around Nunavut for his generosity and his ability to create working groups to achieve complex goals. Mr. Cayen is a CA and a CMC, recipient of the Queen's Jubilee Medal 2012, is a Knight of the Order of St. George, and recently was inducted as a Volunteer Sergeant and Honourable Member of the Henchmen of the 78th Fraser Highlanders, York Garrison, in the presence of the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, The Honourable David C. Onley OOnt.

The Naval Marine Archive,The Canadian Collection, is one of Canada's most significant holdings of historic books, artefacts and papers relating to naval, marine, land and air history. The NMA is achieving national and international recognition as the collection grows in size and significance. It is a true Canadian treasure, and visitors are always welcome to peruse the collection, or conduct academic research.
