The Bluenose dime

The Bluenose, the Nova Scotia fishing schooner wins again 100 years after her launch in Lunenburg in 1921.
The Royal Canadian Mint commissioned our CSMA artist,Yves Bérubé to create a new image for the dime honouring the 100th anniversary of the Bluenose.
Yves is passionate about the history of the fishermen, working to feed the people and support their families and the importance to remember them and acknowledge their contributions. Yves put on the new dime design the wherries on deck.
This is the Royal Canadian Mint's first coloured 10-cent circulation coin, a 2021-dated issue marking the Bluenose centennial. This Bluenose dime was entered in the international competition won the 'Best Circulation Coin' title in the latest Coin of the Year awards and is judged on excellence and ingenuity in coin design and production.
