George Herrick Duggan – 1862-1946

Born Toronto, Sept. 6th, 1862, only son of late John Duggan, Q.C., and Amelia (Tulloh) Duggan. Educated: Upper Canada College; School of Practical Science; Toronto University (1883); post-graduate course (1884); Honorary Degree; LL.D., Queen's University and McGill University; D.Sc., Toronto University.

He was Chief Engineer of the St. Lawrence Bridge Company when that company designed and constructed the steel superstructure of the Quebec Bridge. Engineering Dept. C.P.R., 1884-1886; Engineering Dept., Dominion Bridge Co., 1886-1901; one of the founders Toronto Yacht and Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Clubs; Amateur Yacht Designer. He designed and sailed the winner of the Seawanhaka International Cup, 1896-1901; Captain, Toronto Yacht Club, 1883-84; Commodore, Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club, 1889-90; Honorary Commodore, 1915 to date; Commodore, Royal Cape Breton Yacht Club, 1905-10. Awarded Royal Humane Society's Bronze Medal and Certificate, 1893. Royal St. Lawrence Yacht (Montreal); Royal Canadian Yacht (Toronto); Royal Cape Breton Yacht (Sydney); Royal Hamilton Yacht; Garrison (Quebec); Rideau (Ottawa). Recreations: Yachting, outdoor sports. Anglican. Residence: 120 McTavish Street, Montreal.
