The Naval Marine Archive, under its former name od Archives and Collections Society, organized the UltraMarine Festival in 2001 which included setting a monument to power boat racing in Prince Edward County, Ontario; the folowing is a short account.
To : All former members of the Prince Edward Power Racing Club, sponsors, friends, and fans of boat racing everywhere.
You are cordially invited to attend the unveiling of a plaque commemorating boat racing on Hayward Long Reach through the years.
This special event will take place at the Crystal Palace, Picton at 4:00 p.m. during the opening ceremonies for the UltraMarine Festival Aug 19. Local, provincial, national and international dignitaries and celebrities will be attending.
The official mounting of the plaque will take place Tuesday August 21st 2001 at 7:00pm at a new site on County Road 33 (Green Point) overlooking Hayward Reach.
A boat racing display will be included in the UltraMarine Festival (August 19th to 24th) in the Curling Club and boat-racing videos will be shown on a giant screen in the Curling Club.
