Benjamin Hallowell [1725-1799] – obituary notice

Note: this is the father of Admiral Sir Benjamin Hllowell, one of Nelson's "band of brothers". He had returned to Canada, and was living in York (now Toronto) with his daughter Mary, who had married the Hon. John Elmsley, Chief Justice of Upper Canada.

Obit: a) "On Thursday last, Benj. Hallowell, Esq., in the 75th year of his age. The funeral will be held on Tuesday next, and will proceed from the house of the Chief Justice to the Garrison, Burying Ground, at one o'clock precisely. The attendance of his friends is requested."
