Turbine At Weatherford Wind Farm Collapses:
WEATHERFORD, Okla. (AP)
-- A turbine at a wind farm near Weatherford collapsed Friday morning. No injuries are reported. The cause of the collapse is under investigation.


Fury at wind farms finally fuels a review MINISTERS have ordered a review of wind farm guidelines following warnings from senior officials that the "unplanned proliferation" of the controversial power generators could damage Scotland's landscape. /.../ The documents, released under Freedom of Information legislation, show serious concerns were raised by the Executive's own advisers last year that an unplanned wind power boom could cause long-lasting damage to the environment and put rare species of birds, mammals and plants at risk.

Wind snaps off turbine blade A LARGE blade from a ten-tonne wind turbine at Scotland's most powerful wind farm has snapped off during high winds. The turbine at Crystal Rig wind farm near Dunbar was destroyed when a device to stop it spinning too fast failed. The damage will cost around £1.25 million [CDN$3 million] to repair.
