Allied Shipbuilders, North Vancouver BC
After World War II, when many shipyards were closing, T. A. McLaren set up Allied Builders on a portion of the West Coast Shipbuilders property on False Creek. The name was changed to Allied Shipbuilders in 1961 and in 1967 they moved to a larger site, in North Vancouver. In 2012, the McLarens sold a majority stake in the company to Chuck Ko, the yard's VP of Operations. In the past 20 years, Allied has been primarily engaged in ship repair but retains some construction capability. Visit them at www.alliedship.com and see the yard from the air on Google here.
