Oilers (AO)
Many auxiliaries were created by converting existing ships; others were built new but starting with an existing design; the balance were both designed and built for their purpose. In this table, all ships are in the second and third categories - the ships that were purpose-built - except AO 7-8, 45-46, 66, 89-90, 110 and 153-165. There are some gaps in the data, particularly for the conversions. Comments or queries, please email info@navalmarinearchive.com.
