Atlantic Iron Works, East Boston MA
The Atlantic Works, also known as Atlantic Iron Works, was one of the earliest iron shipbuilders, founded in 1853. It grew over the years through acquisition of neighboring facilities, until acquired by Bethlehem Steel, who closed it in 1950. The yard was at the south end of Border Street, from about Maverick Street north to where the Boston East apartment complex is today.
