Clooney Construction, Westlake LA

Clooney Construction & Towing Company was started in 1906 by John F. Clooney, a Newfoundlander who had relocated to Lake Charles: his son, Thomas, later took over and subsequently sold the business. It closed after WWI. Initially, the yard was on the east side of the Calcasieu River, just south of the Highway Bridge, but later moved downstream to a larger site, the location of which is not clear but was in the vicinity of Clooney Island. As usual with the older yards, Clooney's construction record is seriously incomplete: if anyone can add to the table below, please email info@navalmarinearchive.com.
