Daytona Beach Boat Works, Daytona Beach FL

Daytona Beach Boat Works was built in 1938, by Sherburn M. Becker, for an investment of close to $500,000, and was so lavishly equipped and outfitted that it was described at the time as "pretentious". After the war, the yard flourished as a marina and yacht service contractor until closing in 1960. It was soon taken over, however, and reorganized as Daytona Marina & Boat Works: it is still a marina today. The shipyard was on the Intracoastal Waterway, just south of Daytona's South Bridge: see it from the air on Google here. Comments or queries, please email info@navalmarinearchive.com.
