East Coast Shipyards, Bayonne NJ
his shipyard was originally developed by Sword Steamship Corp. as a repair and maintenance facility called Marine Maintenance Corp. It was expanded for WWII to allow the construction of T-1 tankers but was unable to meet the U.S. Maritime Commission's standards and was reorganized as East Coast Shipyards, Inc. The yard was at the foot of 21st Street East, also known as Constable Hook and deep in Bayonne's forest of oil storage terminals. Comments or queries, please email info@navalmarinearchive.com.
