Olson & Winge, Seattle WA

Olson & Winge Marine Works was formed in 1941 by Oscar E. Olson and Carl B. Winge, who had both worked for King & Winge, a yard started in 1899 by Carl's uncle, Albert Winge, a Norwegian immigrant, and Thomas King. After WWI, Winge moved to California and Olson partnered with Norman C. Sunde in the shipbuilding firm Olson & Sunde Marine Works. With the coming of war, they joined forces as Olson & Winge, in a yard that was located on the Lake Washington Ship Canal. Its address was 4125 Burns Avenue Northwest, which doesn't exist today but which was at the foot of 8th Avenue Northwest, where Marine Fluid Systems is now. The yard devoted its production facilities completely to the war effort, primarily doing conversion and repair work, but they also built the boats listed below. After the war, Olson & Winge switched to the commercial market but closed in the late 1940s. Comments or queries, please email info@navalmarinearchive.com.
