- New Orleans NSY was never a naval shipyard but built some sub chasers during WWI.
- Pensacola NSY operated as a repair yard from 1825 to 1911 but is now the Pensacola Naval Air Station: you can still see where the shipyard was on Google maps.
- San Francisco NSY was primarily a repair yard and is still idle: visit it here and see it from the air on Google maps.
- The Washington Navy Yard was once the world's largest ordnance factory but is now home to numerous naval shore establishments: visit it here and see it from the air on Google maps.
