Halter Chalmette

Halter Chalmette, Chalmette LA

Halter Chalmette was established in 1976 to be an aluminum boat builder, positioned to pick up the commercial work generated by Bell-Halter (subsequently Textron Marine). It was one of the shipyards that constituted Halter Marine Services when that company was acquired by Trinity Industries. Trinity closed it in 1983, by which time the Equitable yard was established as the aluminum boat builder in the group. The shipyard was located at 5501 Paris Road, in Chalmette, in a facility that it shared with Blue Streak Industries, which was also owned by Harold Halter: see it from the air on Google here.
