Nichols Bros. Boatbuilders, Freeland WA

The Nichols boatyard was established by Frank Nichols in Seattle in 1964, but moved almost immediately to Freeland WA, where it is today. It was originally called Nichols & Downing Boat Works and then Nichols & Drake Boat Works, becoming Nichols Bros. Boatbuilders in 1972, when Nichols sold the business to his sons, Matt and Archie. The company closed in 2007, as a result of a contract dispute, but sold its assets to Ice Floe LLC and reopened in 2008.
