Sagstad Shipyards, Seattle WA

Silvert Sagstad immigrated from Norway in 1905 and immediately established a yard known as the Ballard Boat Works, close to the railroad bridge in Ballard. In 1916, he moved the operation to 5109 Shilshole Avenue N.W., at the foot of 20th Avenue N.W.: see the site from the air on Google here. By 1960, when he stopped building boats, the number completed had passed 300. The company continues today as Sagstad Marina, a repair and maintenance operation.
