U.S.C.G. Anchorage and Boarding Boats (AB)

In the early years of the 20th century, the Coast Guard began acquiring small boats to handle anchorage management. Some were taken up from the private sector, some were ex-Navy SCs, some were boats operated by the Customs Bureau, (CB in the table below), and some were built for the purpose.
