HMS Sheffield

HMS Sheffield, type 42 destroyer.

This model was made by Gary Smith circa 1990; it is approximately 33" in length.

HMS Sheffield was a Type 42 guided missile destroyer, commissioned on 16 February 1975. She was part of Task Force 317 deployed to the Falkland Islands (Falklands War 1982). On 4 May 1982 she was heavily damaged by an Exocet missile from an Argentinian Super Étendard aircraft and sank under tow on 10 May 1982.

 

 

 

Our model collection is too extensive to have them all on display at The Victory at any one time. On request, and with a little advance notice, any model in our reserves can be made available to visitors.
