By C.H.J. Snider
This document was Mr Sniders guest speech at the Mariners' Service held in Prince Edward County on Sunday 22 April, 1934 – the day after its publication. In his introduction to this issue of "Schooner days" the author writes: "In introducing his subject for this evening, Mr Snider stated that he greatly regretted the absence of Captain Palmatier. He has done so much for the sailors of this County and in fact of the Lakes as well. I know that you will be pleased to know that he is able to get out of bed, but on the advice of two physicians is remaining at home tonight greatly to his own and our disappointment."
