In this issue Snider recounts the story of lawyer Frederick Augustus Knapp, who turned his passion for invention to transportation and the development of one of the strangest vessels ever seen – the Roller Boat. It may have been prompted by his admiration of Queen Victoria and her well-known sea-sickness.
