What Happened To The Bavaria's Eight?

Toronto Telegram, 11 Jun 1949
Schooner Days CMIII (903)
By C.H.J. Snider

This is Mr Snider's account of the stranding of the schooner Bavaria and the loss of her eight crew members. The ship was found in fairly good condition, so her abondonment by the crew was a wrong decision under the heavy weather circumstances; this is certainly not the first nor the last time these types of errors have benn made (the Fastnet Race of 1971 is another glaring example of sailors believing that a life-raft was safer than their still-floating sailboat.)
